So I said to myself, "Self, your momma wouldn't want you to mope about not having your afghan. She taught you how to crochet, why don't you just make one for yourself?" I found an easy to read pattern at the book store, and I've been working on it for about 2 years now. I still have a long way to go, but I'm happy with *my* granny square.
Oh, and I'm using my mom's crochet hook and some of my mom's yarn to make it. :D

You'd better make two...your girls will each want one someday! Good job...looks very pretty! :) DB
That is so cool that you are using some of her yarn. I use my grandma's hook too. It's lovely. I hope to see it in person someday.
That is so cool! Your mom would be very proud. I just taught myself to crochet and I love making Granny Squares. I can't wait to see your finished product! :)
Mom would be very proud of you for making your own. It's beautiful.
I am duly impressed. I can not crochet, so this seems very incredible to me. So nice to take the lessons you Mama taught and create such a masterpiece.
