I'm a mother. I'm allowed to panic.

So.... Little Bit took a tumble this evening. I'm normally pretty good about just saying, "you're okay. Just shake it off." Not tonight. Tonight, she had what appeared to be a river of blood flowing from her mouth.

I panicked. She needed comforting, and I was headed out the door to the hospital.

Thankfully, Little Bit has a daddy who can keep a calm head in a crisis. He insisted that we just needed to see where she was bleeding from and everything would be okay.

Of course, that meant temporarily stopping the river from flowing. Which in a crying 2 year old is easier said than done.

To make a long story short, she tripped over Daddy's computer bag when she was running in the house (which is a no-no), busted her lip, got Mommy snuggles, and got to have ice cream BEFORE dinner. :D

Like I said, I'm a mother. I'm allowed to panic. And to blog about it.

(I'll post a picture of the swollen lip tomorrow. I'm sure it will be black and blue in the morning. It's already looking puffy.)

Valentine's Day Dinner

I'm in a bit of a time crunch this morning, so I thought this would make a great WFMW, even though I posted it last week. :D Multi-tasking momma is my name!

I thought I would share pictures of our "Love Day" dinner with you.

Yum..... doesn't that look delicious? Pink pancakes.

But wait. Is that a heart pancake??? :O

Looking at them cooking in the pan, sizzling in all their buttery goodness.

Of course, you simply have to see a close up shot.

So by this time, I'm sure you're saying, "how did she do that?" My secret weapon is.....(Sorry for the blurry picture.)

I should point out that technique is sort of important here. Don't try to make heart shapes and fill them in. Or 2 circles connected by a triangle. No, I got my best hearts by making a V shape.

Next up.... shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day. :D

The Mind of a 2 year old

I'm making spritz cookies in the shape of hearts today.

Little Bit walks up and says, "What's that?"

I said, "it's the ingredients."

She got this really panicked look on her face and in her voice, and says, "Ants? I don't want Ants!"

And let's not forget that she's wearing her "cape-ron" in order to help.

Guild Auction Update

I thought you might be interested in knowing how well the auction went. Well... I didn't win anything, but it was fun to see how well my items did.

I had turned this paper pieced star into a hot pad. It sold at $6.

This pretty little heart that took forever to paper piece.... $3

This wall hanging that was made out of leftover pieces from a different project, but the fabric just screams sewing room ... $6

This one, also a leftover block from a different project that got turned into a wall hanging ... $6, even though it's not that great.

And do you remember ALL those mug mats I made? This group of 3 went for $10!!! :O I was shocked and amazed and a bit pleased. I had 6 groups of 2 and this one group of 3. The total on all of them was $31.

All in all, it seemed to be a good night for our guild, with lots of fun and lots of food.

Now.... what am I going to do for next year?

Works For Me Wednesday

Wow, I haven't done this in a LONG time, but when I pulled this "trick" out of my bag, I knew I had found the perfect tip to share.

My children are very creative. They like to paint and glue and make things and paint those things. By the way, did I mention they like to paint?

So, in the interest of saving the table, I pulled out a cheap vinyl tablecloth. But I was wondering how to keep it from slipping while 2 year old Little Bit was working. Because, you know, 2 year olds can keep still and all.

My solution? Bulldog clips. The BIG ones. :) A picture to demonstrate.

The table is clean, and the clip kept the tablecloth on through 2 painting sessions!

For more Works for Me Wednesdays check out Don't Try This At Home. Shannon is in Africa at the moment so WFMW is ‘on location’.

Vote

Tomorrow is what is affectionately called "Super Tuesday." 24 states, including Missouri, hold some form of caucus or primary election.

I am an election judge for the Republican Party this year. I am so excited. Not really excited about the getting up at 4 in the morning part, but excited to do something that is worthwhile to this country.

This is not a political blog. I have no intention of talking about who, what, where, why, or when. Please. Just go vote. If you don't vote, then don't complain.

As for me - I won't be here tomorrow. :D

New Signature

I've been playing today. I've added a "signature." What do you think? :) It's going to take me time to get used to NOT signing every time.
